Jingyi grew up in a family deeply rooted in Chinese cultural heritage, shaped by esteemed family members, including a master calligrapher, a renowned opera performer, a distinguished writer, and the inventor of Pinyin. Practicing calligraphy from the age of six, he developed a deep appreciation for tradition and aesthetics. His mother, an artisan in tailoring, and his father, an interior enthusiast who spent a decade renovating their home, instilled in him a lifelong passion for craftsmanship and design.
After five transformative years in New York, Jingyi became a global partner at McKinsey & Company, leading wellness initiatives across Asia. His career took him around the world, spending a quarter of his time in Europe, where he immersed himself in art, architecture, and design, refining his unique approach to blending Eastern and Western aesthetics.
Today, Jingyi’s heritage apartment in Shanghai’s historic French Concession embodies his lifestyle philosophy: a harmonious blend of authentic materials, calming aesthetics, and understated opulence. JY Maison, inspired by his Chinese name "景怡" (Jing Yi)—with "景" symbolizing inspiring scenes and "怡" evoking delight and serenity—goes beyond designing spaces and curating art to elevate the way we live.
